In this temple Lord Muruga is enshrined in a sittting pose with Deviyanai, his consort on the one side and the sage Narada on the other side. According to the Skanda Puranam, after slaying the demon, Soorpadman, Lord Muruga stayed in this place. He also married Deviyanai, the only daughter of Indra ( king of devas) in this place. Other shrines in the temple are dedicated to Shiva, Ganesha, Durga and Vishnu.
