History

The most important deity in Thiru Mohur is the Chakkaraththazvar ( maha Sudharasana swamy). The idol is in the form of a copper yantra of about 3 feet in height, depicting the Sudharsana chakra. idols of Lord Sudharsana and Lord nrisimha appear on either side of the chakra. This deity is considered extremely powerful here for three reasons. Lord Sudharsana appears here with three eyes ( one extra eye on the forehead), the God appears with the Sudharsana Yantra and the idol is depicted as wearing footwear ( paduka) signifying that He is available for immediate help to devotees.
