History
Lakshminarayanapuram
is a village by the side of two villages, Kumarapuram and
chokkanathapuram in Palakkad. This temple is more than 300 years old
and was plundered by the Moghul Kings ( during Tipu Sultan's rule) the
idol of this temple and also that of another village, Sekharipuram were
thrown into a well in Lakshminarayanapuram. These were later discovered
by the Palakkad Kings and temples established in these two villages,
Lakshminarayanapuram and Sekharipuram. The Deity in both the temples
are Sri Gopakrishnaswamy. The story is, on Thiruvonam day every month
if a devotee who has no children worships this deity and perform
Nivedyam with " Palpayasam " continuously for 12 months, will be
blessed with children. Besides, anyone having Kuja-Rahu Dosham will get
relief from malefic effects. Besides Gopalakrishnaswamy, Deities of
Mahaganapathy and Lord Ayyappa are also installed in the temple. This temple is subsisting on donations and subscriptions form devotees. |
